Dodo Electricity Review 2026
Dodo is the budget airline of Australian energy. Low prices. Mixed reputation. Their strategy is simple: offer rates that undercut nearly everyone, then make money on volume and bundled services (internet, gas, mobile). Owned by Vocus Group. If you are price-sensitive and do not care about customer service, Dodo delivers on the one thing that matters: a lower bill.
Rates from ~24c/kWh usage, ~95c/day supply (VIC). Among the cheapest fixed-rate plans available. Bundled electricity + internet customers get an extra 5-10% off. Last updated June 2026.
The Short Version
Dodo is straightforward: you get cheap electricity and you accept that customer service is basic. The rates are genuinely among the lowest in the market — around 24c/kWh in VIC. The solar feed-in tariff is below average at 7c, so solar households should do the full calculation. Bundle discounts for electricity + internet + gas can save another 5-10%. No lock-in contracts. The app is basic. Customer service is where Dodo takes the most criticism online. If you rarely call your energy provider, Dodo works fine. If you want a premium experience, pay more elsewhere.
What I Like
- Among the cheapest fixed-rate plans in the market
- Bundle discounts stack (electricity + gas + internet)
- No lock-in contracts
- Straightforward single-rate plans
- Strong in regional areas where some competitors do not operate
What Could Be Better
- Customer service is the most common complaint (long wait times, billing errors reported more than industry average)
- Solar feed-in tariff is below average
- No app (website only)
- Brand perception is budget — you get what you pay for
Who Should Get Dodo
If your priority is the lowest possible bill and you rarely contact customer service, Dodo delivers the cheapest fixed-rate plans in the market.
If you already have Dodo for internet or mobile, adding electricity can save you an extra 5-10% on top of already low rates.
The 7c/kWh solar feed-in tariff is below average. Solar households should calculate carefully — the low import rate may not offset the poor FIT. And if you value good customer service, Dodo is not for you.
My Take
Dodo is fine for what it is. A cheap energy plan that keeps the lights on. If nothing goes wrong with your billing, you will probably be happy with the savings. If something does go wrong, you may spend a frustrating few days on the phone. For non-solar households who want the lowest possible spend, Dodo is a valid pick. Just know what you are signing up for.
