Our Evaluation Framework

Every plans we review goes through the same multi-criteria evaluation. No exceptions, no shortcuts.

  1. Rate (35%) — Electricity usage rates and supply charges compared across all available plans.
  2. Contract Flexibility (20%) — Exit fees, lock-in periods, no-contract options.
  3. Customer Satisfaction (15%) — Complaint ratios, independent review scores, real customer feedback.
  4. Green Energy (10%) — Renewable energy percentage, carbon offset programs, GreenPower options.
  5. Billing Transparency (10%) — Clear bills, no hidden fees, estimated vs actual usage accuracy.
  6. Customer Service (10%) — Wait times, issue resolution, online account management quality.

How We Test — The Process

Each review takes 2-4 weeks from start to publication:

Our Scoring System

9.0-10: Exceptional. Best in class. We'd recommend to family.
8.0-8.9: Excellent. Minor trade-offs but strong overall value.
7.0-7.9: Good. Solid choice but not category-leading.
6.0-6.9: Average. Acceptable but better options exist.
Below 6.0: Not recommended. We explain exactly why.

Based on our comparison, the cheapest plan can save a typical household $200-400 per year vs the default standing offer.
